Bachelor Of Design (Hons) In Creative Media | Taylor's University
Task 2 (A) - Key Artwork, Task 2 (B) - CollateralINSTRUCTIONS
Outline of this Project
This main artwork is both a wordmark/lettering and an artwork. It is used as a wordmark/lettering to identify an event/person, but it is also used as artwork to adorn a lapel pin/T-shirt/poster (collateral). The main artwork can be broken into constituent forms to create bright patterns that retain and increase the visual identity. Use your first name or the name of your pet. You can use your initials (EF), your first name (Edward), or your pet name for this activity (Teddy). Investigate and compose as many permutations and combinations of these initials as you can. The final key artwork must be a simple, elegant solution that leads to a functioning and communicable key artwork.
PROCESS OF WORK
I was decided to use my name "MEXR" which is short form of "Melanie Er Xin Ru". I think it is meaning to me as i think its represented myself.
MY FIRST DRAFT
As I actually still lost about the brief, there are some mistake as I think that I should design what I like for as I've dream to become a Singer others I would like to do. After receive Mr.Vinod feedback, I decided to redo agian which for this design it was to special that it cannot see obviously the word is "MEXR".

REDESING/ REFINALIZE
After getting feedback, I refinalize again for my name "MELEXR" in more simplicity feels. I decided to design it which the font look 3D feels as I love the style of Y2K Style, Cyberpunk Sci-fi & Futurism style. I've do some research on a K-POP Girls group named "AESPA" as I love their concept so much.

Next, I decided to use the Simply Feels style of words of my name design "MELEXR" - Y2K Style, Cyberpunk Sci-fi & Futurism. I designed it to have the 3D sense of the typefaces so that when I added the colour and effects, it turned out more perfectly great with the darker background that I desired. I believe that if I modify the colours or effects, it will still come out perfectly nice and match for all of it. It will not be restricted to a single usage, and there may be more potential to exploration.

What I love is to keep exploring and to try out different styles of myself, which I decided to design my style in Black and the concept is Cyberpunk Sci-fi, Y2K mixture of Futurism which what I love of the trend style now. I decided to make it simple easy to see as can straight to recognise which what "MELEXR" represented, yet I did also put my photo as confident of myself.

Experience
I had the chance to research on my typeface name logo design and branding as well as learn about typography as part of this assignment. I'm especially interested in creating logos, which include to brand it out on social media and it is interesting.
Observation
The possibility of working on assignments with little limitations might make things enjoyable, but they can also be also challenging to me too . Especially while creating the typefaces that I need to be creative and be special and meaning for what am I doing for. When I design something and then later, after some time has passed, I look back at the design, it looks really bad that I always wanted my design to looked speciality that represent me much and not disappointment.
Findings
I've discovered that it's important for a logo design to be easy to remember when first sight of looking, simplify and creative is so important when it comes to match for everything. Being innovative to create a total new design that represents myself is challenging as there are too many possibility. As for this task, I did learned and know about myself too.

Week 7: Typography of System Design
Author: Kimberly Elam
Typographic organization has always been a complex system in that there are so many elements at play, such as hierarchy, order of reading, legibility, and contrast. In Typographic Systems, Kim Elam, author of our bestselling books, Geometry of Design and Grid Systems, explores eight major structural frameworks beyond the gridincluding random, radial, modular, and bilateralsystems. By taking the reader through exercises, student work, and professional examples, Elam offers a broad range of design solutions.
Once essential visual organization systems are understood the designer can fluidly organize words or images within a structure, combination of structures, or a variation of a structure. With clarity and substance, each systemfrom the structured axis to the nonhierarchical radial arrayis explained and explored so that the reader comes away with a better understanding of these intricate complex arrangements. Typographic Systems is the seventh title in our bestselling Design Briefs series, which has sold more than 100,000 copies worldwide.
