REFELCTIONS

Looking back at the 14 weeks of working on my Major Final Year project, It has been a challenging but a fruitful journey for me.

Week 1 to Week 4
I was full of excitement about my app idea, "BELLO," but the deeper I dived into the research and ideation phases, the more I realized how much work was ahead. Interviewing cafe owners physically to get responses and customers for primary research was eye-opening that it helped me understand real user needs and pain points. Although brainstorming was fun, narrowing down the features and setting a direction for the app was harder than I expected.

Week 5 to Week 6
I started creating the low-fidelity wireframes. It was exciting to finally see my ideas take shape visually. However, I faced a few challenges with organizing the flow and ensuring my features aligned with user needs. I consulted Mr. Mike, and his feedback helped me refine the structure, which was a relief because I felt stuck at that point.

Week 7 to Week 8
I worked on the mascot and the high-fidelity prototype. Creating the mascot was something I enjoyed because it added a unique personality to my app. However, when I started developing the lo-fi wireframe & hi-fi prototype, I realized the visuals didn’t quite align with the app’s friendly and social vibe. Although I moved forward with it, I wasn’t entirely satisfied with my progress.

Week 9 to Week 11
I made the decision to redesign the entire mascot, wireframe, and visual elements because I couldn’t shake the feeling that the app didn’t represent my original vision. It was a hard decision, and it set me back significantly. I felt stressed knowing I was falling behind schedule. Over the next two weeks, I worked tirelessly to rework everything from scratch. Unfortunately, because I was so focused on catching up that I missed consulting with Mr. Mike

Week 12 to Week 13
it was time for user testing, which added another layer of pressure. I designed a User Testing and asked participants which is my friend to try out the app. Their feedback was helpful but highlighted more changes that needed to be made. Everything felt extremely rushed, and I worried whether I could finish on time. However, I kept refining the prototype and focusing on usability and improving the overall experience based on the testing results.

Week 14
I wrapped everything up but there are still lots of progress that I keep checking for prototyping and doing coding yet animation in Unity. I managed to finalize the apps the designs and everything. Looking at the completed project, I felt proud of how far I had come. Despite the stressful moments, multiple redesigns, and tight deadlines, I was happy with the outcome.

This project has taught me, from start to finish, the essential steps needed to create a mobile application, including researching ideas and designing effectively. It highlighted the importance of resilience and adaptability, especially during moments when I felt overwhelmed or doubted my ideas. Redoing my work and falling behind in my progression made the process even more challenging, but it pushed me to stay determined. I also learned how valuable user feedback is in design and how even small changes can have a significant impact. Overall, this project has been a transformative journey of growth, and I’m truly grateful for the experience.
