ADVANCED TYPOGRAPHY TASK 3 - TYPE EXPLORATION AND APPLICATION
2.11.2022 - 2.12.2022 (Week 10 - Week 14)
TASK 3 | TYPE EXPLORATION AND APPLICATION
With the knowledge and experience gained in the exercises and tasks, with the accumulated knowledge from the lectures and your own reading (library books and online sources), with the experience gained in the different software covered in the programme thus far, synthesise and apply the learning in the tasks to be mentioned. Allow the knowledge gained to guide and inform your decisions for the effective execution of your final task.
Requirements
Create a font that is intended to solve a larger problem or meant to be part of a solution in the area of your interest be it graphic design, animation, new media or entertainment design or any other related area not necessarily reflecting your specialisation. End result: a complete typeface generated (.ttf) + applications.
or
Explore the use of typeface in your area of interest, understand its existing relationship, identify areas that could be improved upon, explore possible solutions or combinations that may add value to the existing typeface. End result: a complete typeface generated (.ttf) + applications.
or
Experiment. For your idea to qualify as an experiment it must be novel and unique — working with material that might be 3- dimensional, digitally augmented, edible, unusual, typographic music video or fine art. End result: defined by student.
To be effective you will need to study your selected area, look at how type is used in the area and identify potential weaknesses or possible areas of further exploration or experimentation. You can then attempt to provide a creative solution or add value to an existing use.
The end outcome could be a designed font and its application in the form or format that it is intending to provide a solution for, or an designed font that adds value to an existing use, or an experimentative output that results in something novel and unique. The work can manifest into any kind of format related to the issue being solved or explored or experimented: animation, 3d, print, ambient, projection, movie title or game title, music video, use of different material etc.
Process of Work
First, I'm truly lost as there are so many fonts that I so excited to do. To make clearly of which path & concept, I've come up with my own proposal.
After exploration of the typefaces, I find similar fonts and download for references.
One Thing - Acumin Viarable Concept
Chucks - Rozha One
Besides that, I also did find others font which is similar on what I wanted to create
Elegist Personal Font
La Obage Personal Font
Camilla Font
After explore & research, I start to draw out on a paper some of the Alphabet such as Capital A,B,C,D,E and Small letter a,b,c,d,e
After hand drawing of the Alphabet, I decided not to draw all at the paper and decided to draw at Adobe illustrator with Pen tool & Curve tool.

Week 9: Typography of System Design
Author: Kimberly Elam
Typographic organization has always been a complex system in that there are so many elements at play, such as hierarchy, order of reading, legibility, and contrast. In Typographic Systems, Kim Elam, author of our bestselling books, Geometry of Design and Grid Systems, explores eight major structural frameworks beyond the gridincluding random, radial, modular, and bilateralsystems. By taking the reader through exercises, student work, and professional examples, Elam offers a broad range of design solutions.
Once essential visual organization systems are understood the designer can fluidly organize words or images within a structure, combination of structures, or a variation of a structure. With clarity and substance, each systemfrom the structured axis to the nonhierarchical radial arrayis explained and explored so that the reader comes away with a better understanding of these intricate complex arrangements. Typographic Systems is the seventh title in our bestselling Design Briefs series, which has sold more than 100,000 copies worldwide.
