What is Motion Graphics?

Fig 1 | Motion Graphics

Motion Graphics means Graphics in Movement.

Motion Graphics = Composition + Animation
→ Composition = Graphics + Typography
→ Animation = Movement + Rhythm

Motion graphics are produced in the following sequence.
Step 1: Write a Script That Tells a Story.
Step 2: Storyboard While You Brainstorm the Visual Treatment.
Step 3: Take Your Storyboards into Design.
Step 4: Animate the Final Designs.

Storyboard for Motion Graphics:

Animation vs. Motion Graphics
The difference between motion graphics and animation
Motion graphics are a type of animation. While motion graphics describes moving or animated graphic design, animation is an umbrella term for the whole field of moving imagery.

Fig 5 | Animation

Unlike cartoon animation, motion graphics are not driven by characters or storylines. This art form focuses on the ability to move graphic elements, shapes, and text. This process is commonly used for things like television promotions, explainer videos, and animated logos. The skillset necessary for the other types of animation doesn't apply to motion graphics because there's no need to mimic body movement or facial expressions. Advertisements rely heavily on motion graphics and present plenty of career opportunities.

4 Type of Animation:

3:45 PM | Alisha Liu
Begin with 3.45 pm by Alicia Liu is a second year film at cal arts and what i love the film at cal arts and what i love the most is the beautiful geometric design in the background the colour palette is fantastic and i'm not sure how they created that subtle outline of everything where it almost looks like water colours and what's also great is i love how when the scenes zoom out the details just get more simplified it is really masterfully done.

Week 3 - 27/1/2023
Project 1 | Instructable Infographics Poster

Project details
These infographics present complex information quickly and clearly, with symbols charts and diagrams. With an information graphic, computer scientists, mathematicians, and statisticians develop and communicate concepts using a single symbol to process information.

Your job is to transmit a set of instructions and at the same time educate the audience. Infographics should be fun, it should simplify the context, while representing information graphically.

Because “A picture is worth a thousand words”. Yours should reflect the following:
  • To transmit or communicate a message.
  • To present large amounts of information in a compact and easy to understand way.
  • To reveal the data. Discovering cause-effect relations, knowing what’s happening.
  • To periodically monitor the evolution of certain parameters.
You will develop an infographic to communicate a concept, topic or idea - IN THIS CASE A COMPLETE SET INSTRUCTION TO A RECIPE.
The infographic should take viewer visually through information you want them to learn or know. Based on your infographic the audience should be able to learn through viewing and interpreting the various graphical information and text.

You will be required to evaluate what parts of the topic, concept, or idea are most important to tell/demonstrate and ask how you would represent each piece of information best.
You will also decide how to graphically represent the most salient facts about your topic, concept or idea for student learning. This includes the finishing outcome which could be a slick animation or even a rough stop motion.

An infographic poster for ONE recipe selected from
Pasta Grannies @ https://www.youtube.com/user/pastagrannies/videos
Study one video, breakdown and chunk the preparation and cooking process into an instructable poster. Try to capture each Grandma’s personality and unique dish identity in your poster as part of the narrative structure.

Requirement
